AN ORDINANCE amending the garbage and refuge enforcement provisions
and amending Sections 6.04.050and 6.04.062 of the Bremerton Municipal
Code·
THE CITY OF BREMERTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN:
Section 1. Amendment. Section 6.04.050of the Bremerton Municipal Code is hereby
amended to read as follows:
6.04.050 UNLAWFUL DISPOSAL.
(a) It shall be unlawful for any person to bury, burn, dump, collect, deposit, or in any
manner to cause, permit or allow the dispose~ of refuse upon any street, alley, public place
or private property within the City, otherwise than as provided in this Chapter.
Section 2. Amendment. Section 6.04.062of the Bremerton Municipal Code is hereby
amended to read as follows:
6.04.062 REFUSE ABATEMENT. It shall be the duty of the Building Official,
whenever there is on any property in the City any accumulation of refuse in violation of this
chapter to give notice in writing to the owner thereof or to the agent of such owner if
known, or to the occupant or tenant of the premises, rcqu:.r:.ng ordering such person to
remove such refuse from such property within Seventy-two (72) hoursr._ Following the
receipt of such notice, the party to whom such notice is directed shall remove such refuse
within seventy-two (72) hours· Failure to obey such order shall constitute a civil infraction.
Provided, however, That an attempt shall be made to first give notice to that person believed
by the Building Official to have caused the accumulation of refuse· Such notice shall
contain:

(a) The name of the owner, occupant, tenant or agent of the property.
(f) A statement advising the owner and occupant or tenant that failure to comply

Section 3. Effective Date. This ordinance shall become effective ten (10) days from
passage and publication.
