An Ordinance naming the new State Route 304 (SR304) roadway alignment from First
Street to the State Route 3 (SR3) interchange "Charleston Boulevard".
WHEREAS, the City is the lead agency in the reconstruction of SR304; and,
WHEREAS, the reconstruction of SR304 includes establishment of a new roadway alignment
from First Street to the SR3 interchange; and,
WHEREAS, the new roadway alignment needs to have a single name to eliminate public
confusion and provide for public safety; and,
WHEREAS, the project Citizens Landscape Committee unanimously recommended the name
"Charleston Boulevard" for SR304 from First Street to the SR3 interchange; and,
WHEREAS, the Bremerton community response to the proposed name overwhelmingly
supports the use of "Charleston Boulevard" for SR304 from First Street to the SR3 interchange; now,
therefore,
The City of Bremerton does hereby ordain:
1. That SR304 from First Street to the SR3 interchange be named Charleston Boulevard.
2. That the new Charleston Boulevard street name be implemented with construction of the
new street and implementation of the limited access features of the SR304 Transportation
Improvement Project.
