AN ORDINANCE adjusting City Council salaries and setting additional
compensation for the City Council President.
WHEREAS, the Citizen Commission on Council Salaries has conducted public heatings
pursuant to City Charter Section 8, and finds that 1) the compensation for City Council members has
not been increased for several years, and 2) the Council President's administrative responsibility for
managing the council office and the business of the Council demands an extraordinary commitment
of time and effort beyond normal duties of a councilmember; now therefore,
THE CITY OF BREMERTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN:
Section 1. COUNCIL MEMBER SALARY SCHEDULE.
Beginning January 1, 1998, each Council member of the City of Bremerton shall receive a
salary of $600.00 per month; and the Council President shall receive an additional stipend of
$25.00 per month during his or her appointed term as President. Council Members shall
receive no medical, dental or other employee benefit.
PASSED by the Citizens Commission on Council Salaries of the City of Bremerton this 6th day of
October, 1997.
