An ordinance amending BMC 9.14.050 to include recovery of
administrative costs.
WHEREAS, RCW 35.21.310 allows the City to abate vegetation which is a fire hazard or public
nuisance and assess abatement costs as a lien against private property; and
WHEREAS, BMC 9.14.050 makes reference to Chapter 113, Laws of Washington, 1949, a prior
enactment, rather than the current RCW 35.21.310, and the most current reference should be
utilized by the City; now therefore,
The City of Bremerton Does Ordain:
Section 1. Amendment. Section 9.14.050 of the Bremerton Municipal code is hereby amended
to read as follows:
That whenever, after authorization by resolution of the city council, any trees, plants,
shrubs or vegetation, or parts thereof, are removed or destroyed, the department causing the
removal or destruction thereof shall keep an accurate record of the necessary costs, including
administrative charge, and shall become a charge against the owner and a lien against the property
