AN ORDINANCE creating the Department of Building and
Planning, establishing the Director of Building and Planning
and amending Bremerton Municipal Code Section 2.15.
THE CITY OF BREMERTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN:
Section 1. Amendment. Section 2.15.010 is hereby amended to read
as follows:
2.15.010 DEPARTMENT CREATED.. There is created the
r~,~..~,~-,,~.., ~,cr~ ...... :~,, r~ .... ~ ..... * Department of Building and
Planning to be administered by ~ the Director of Building and
Planning appointed by the Mayor, subject to Council conFn'mation.
The Director shall direct, coordinate and supervise the functions of the
Building and Planning divisions of the Department.
Section 2. Amendment. Section 2.15.020 is hereby amended to read
as follows:
2.15.020 DIVISIONS. - DUTIES.
A. Building. This division shall be managed by the Building
Official, subject to the supervision of the ~
r~ ...... ;,,, r~ .... ~ .... -,t Director of Building and Planning,
and is responsible for:
(i) administering building permits and inspections;
(ii) enforcement of the building code and abatement of
dangerous buildings;
(iii) building code policy and ordinance development.
B. Planning. This division represents three programs ~aoh
............. ., a v--,~ ........... e,,--, su ect to the supervision
of the Director, and shall be responsible for:
(i) Long Range Planning, providing research and
development for comprehensive planning, project studies
of socioeconomic and resource projections, preparation
of Comprehensive Plan amendments, and development of
land use control ordinances and policies;
(ii) Current Planning, providing permit processing,
administrative support for the Planning Commission and
the City Council on land use applications, land use
compliance and enforcement including environmental
and shoreline review;
(iii)Community Services providing administration of federal
community development grant funds, development of
resources and policies for other community development
projects in the areas of housing, economic development,
public facilities, and social service projects.
Section 3. New Section. A new section 2.15.030 is hereby
added to read as follows:
2.15.030 REFERENCE. Throughout this code any reference to
Department of Community Development or Director of
Community Development shall be interpreted to mean
Department of Building and Planning and Director of Building
and Planning.
Section 4. Effective Date. This ordinance shall become
effective ten (10) days from passage and publication.
