Regular meeting of the City Co~mmi~ion of the City of Bremerton,,,ashington, held
on Saturday March,4,1939 at ten o'clock i~.M. with Mr Halverson presiding; Con~issioner
Casad and City Attorney being also present. (tvLr Knabb was present but tokk no part in
proce ed ings ·
Clerk read minutes of the previous regular meeting and on motion of Mr Casad and
Mr Halverson same were approved as read, ~,lr Casad and Mr Halverson voting, Yes.
Clerk read letter from Retail Trade Bureau of Chamber of Co~m~'~erce advising that
Bureau was opposed to granting permits for bringing in carnivals under any circumstance
letter ordered filed.
City engineer reported having checked the bids for materials in L. Io D. #197
a~ follows: J. S. Kenyon $2,419.05; Lofthus Ltu~ber Yard, ~2455.50 and Parker Lumber
Company: $2,682.74.
Motion by Mr Halverson and Mr Casad to award contract to Kenyon, carried as follows:
Mr Halverson, Yes. Mr Casad, Yes. Mr Knabb not voting.
The City Attorney a.~isted the clerk by reading the proposed ordinance requiring
any person, firm o~ corporation using or desiring to use the streets,alleys,avenues,
public groundsan~ places, or any part thereof,within the city of Bremerton, for the
purpose of carrying on or engaging in a general telephone and telegraph business,
to obtain a permit therefor and to pay an annual rental charge therefor,fixing the
amount to be paid,the time for paym~t and providing penalties for the violation there-
of. (This being second reading)
Motion by Mr Halverson and Mr Casad to pas~ and adopt ordinance as read and corr-
