ithe occupation tax up to date as of June 30, 1948. Heretofore have been paying oc-

In order to make it synchronize to the first of July when pa~j-ment goes on a straight

!point t~is ~noant is a correct and just payment.
I,iotion by l~ir. Kean and I'.~r. Gorst to authorize acceptance of the check, carried.

~..~r. Leach further stated the fire stations had gone on a meter on ~ecember 15,
i1947~ and t½at the City Hall would go on meter on ~ecember 2~, 1947, and the dif-
iferenee in dates is due to the difference in meter reading dates.
Attormey reported that the claim for damages of Wallis Texaco Service, amount

Clerk reported that an adjustor had visited here yesterday in connection with
fire dau'aages caused by the fuse box in the Police Department and that the insurance

THIS RESOLUTION MOVED and UNANIMOUSLY PASSED by the City Council of the Oity of
F, remerton, this 24th day of ~ecember, 194V.
?dotion by Mr. Kean and f,~rs. Haddon to adopt Resolution ~o. 630, and authorize
the City A~torney to refer the letter to the ~ayor, to the County Commissioners, and
Prosecutin!: Attorney for further action by the County, carried as follows: ~.ir. Kean,
yes; ?/!rs. Haddon, yes; I2r. Gorst, yes.
City Attorney stated he had been instructed to prepare an ordinance making an
emergency appropriation of i~1,500.00 for Street Lights for thc balance of the year,
and .i~l,GO0.O0 for Garage for ±~epayment of Loan from General Fund, and ~6,000.00 for
Parts for resale.
Attorney read Ordinance No. 1761, entitled as follows:
AN 0~i[~!NANCE appropriating funds for street lighting and maintenance and opera-
tion of the city garage not provided in the budget for the calendar year, and declar-
ing an emergency.
Motion by Er. Gorst and 1.irs. Haddon to approve Ordinance No. 1761 on fiFst read-
inS, carried as follows: [~[r. Kean, yes; ?.Irs. tIaddon, yes; [dr. Gorst, yes.
t;km. ther report was made by attorney that he had prepared petitions on the annexa-
tion of the area in ~Ianette between the Bay Theatre and Bremerton Gardens. Has been
contacted by two persons interested in circulating the petition, and that ~?,ayor Kean
iiad talked to a third, Tiny Burnett, and did not know the best place to start the
petition. Attorney gave petition to i','iayor to get I~r. Burnett's signature on the pro-
perty he owns.
City Attorney stated a lease has been prepared on the property now leased by k~r.
Brigham, who had requeeted a lease for a period of 5 years with an option for an ad-
ditional five years.
Attorney read lease which had been prepared for that period, at a rental of
,.~;[~$.00 a year. If City requires the property for its own use the leaso may be ter-
minated by giving written notice of 90 days. Option for further period of 5 years
all conditions to be the same except the rental and if tmable to agree on rental for
renewal an arbiter shall be chosen by each, who will choose a third, and the rent set
by ti-~e three shall be rental for extended period.
~.[otion by ]'/Ir. Kean and ?~r. Gorst to approve the lease, carried.
Attorney also stated that Mr. Brighmu also desires to lease the property which
he is now sub-leasing from I;ir. Rowley. The City has the property in question leased
to Ir. Rowley, smd ~ir. Brigham would prefer to deal directly with the City.
}.iayor co~}~ented that if the Head of the Bay is developed s~fficiently that the
City would not want this property in question to be tied up for a long period, but if
an agreement is worked out with Hr. Brigham on a month to month lease such as is now
i~ effect with ~,{r. !~owley it should be satisfactory.
i, iotion by }.{r. Kean and ~.lr. Gorst to notify Mr. i%wley of the cancellation of his
lease, ano:~ork up a month to fsonth lease with Mr. Brighsm~, carried.
Motion by i.ir. Kean and },Irs. Harden to allow all bills if approved by a majority
of the co~ission, carried.
ldayor enquired if everything had been attended to that is necessary toward lcean-
inS up ti~e year of 1947 before January 20th. Clerk reported everything }~as been done
or will be ~o e before that time.
Civil Service meeting was reviewed in so far as it pertained to the matter of dis~
posing of the services of several firemen, and it was stated it will probably be neces~
sary to pass an emergency ordinance after the first of the year to take care of the ~
term~al leave of some of those who will be let out, as their leave will carry their [
pay over ~nto 1948, and there is no provision in 1948 budget for such payments. ·
~iotion by [~Ir. i~ean and i.'[r. Oorst to adjourn, carried.
