Park and Recreation ~cause of less vandalism ,to property owners in City as com-
pared to other Washington Cities; and that he feels it is very important to main-
tain all of these services, if at all possible, at the present high level. Stat-
ed he felt that any additional b~miness tax on the real estate and insurance
might be the straw that will break some ~o£ our backs but admitted there are too
many in this particular business at the present time. Hoped that a revenue can
be found that will not seriously affect business.

garbage collection but dumps in the bay; also complained about the trees hang-
ing over Bender's fence above the sidewalk whid~ let leaves and other debris fall
on the walk and street. She said that she and her husban~ felt the proposed plan
of rezoning llO feet back from the .street would hurt some property owners and
they wanted it to go down to the beach.
The City Attorney pointed out that at a meeting which she .and other proper-
ty owners attended last Friday that Mr. Bender had suggested ll0 feet and that
there had been no objection at that time so that distance was arbitrarily chosen.
Mr. Severance stated that the wood wall south of her preperty was in an un-
safe condition and was dangerous.
After further discussion, in which Mrs. Haddon explained why the Sanitation
Department did not pick up garbage down in that area, it was suggested by the

venue for next year.

Mr. Wheaton stated that he had talked to Mr. 0raker regarding whose respon-
sibility it is to care for and maintain the sewer manhole~covers in View Ridge
as they are in need of replacing.
It was ascertained that it is not ~he City's responsibility but at this time
it is the Housing Authority~s and later on will become the School District's

Clerk read the investigation report made by Art Morken, Assistant Chief

six street lights from 6th to llth and no need for another light as it is a
well-lighted street.
