Mr. S.R. Strassburg, 2034 lltn appeared beZ'ore the Council regarding the
stop light at llth and Naval. His complaint was due to the fact that 115~ St.
is just a speedway and a dangerous crossroad as on the East side of Naval is a
hill and this obstructs any vision of traffic or pedestrians until you are dir-
e~ctly to the intersection. The signal now used is inadequate and he suggested
a trial o~' ~0 or 60 days or a 4 way stop sign or a stop and go light.
Mr. Joe Walker, who lives on llth and Rainier agreed with Mr. Strassburg
in every way and also was in favor of trying the different types of signals and
see how it works out.
Mr. Ted Phillips, Captain of Traffic, remarked that the reason for the
stop signs now on Naval and a caution light blinking on llth was because 6th
and ~aval has stop and go signal and llth and Naval being more or less a second-
ary highway he felt it would make more conjested traffic wai~ing for the light
on Naval.
Mayor Kean remarked that there was a traffic survey 0eing conducted now
to find out where all the bulk of traffic was being cared for so some improve-
ments might be made. Mayor Kean referred the matter of llth and Naval stop
light to Captain Phillips~ City Engineer and anyone else who would like to meet
w~th this group and see what type of light would be better suited. It was de-
ctde~dl a meeting take place this afternoon at 2 o'clock at llth and Naval~
