A Special Meeting of the City Council was held on Wednesday, June 3, 1955
at 3:15 P.M. ~n the Mayor's Office with Mayor Yowell, City Clerk McGowan, and
City Engineer Severance. Paul Ryan of the Bremerton Sun was also present.
The,Mayor explained that this meeting was called to reconsider a proposal
to enter into a Joint City-School District Planning Study which had been dis-
cussed at a regular meeting earlier today.
It was pointed out by City Clerk McGowan that at the request of the Coun-
cil he had discussed the matter with City Auditor Vaa and City Engineer Sever-
ance following the meeting, principally with reference to ways and means of
financing the project. It was budgeted for supervision and that an emergency
appropriation was not possible due to the absence of Miss Cullin; it would be
necessary to advance the money as a loan from the Engineer's budget with the
understanding that an appropriation would be made in the Planning Commissions
budget for 1954 for the purpose of repaying the loan.
It was then moved by Mayor Yowell and seconded by Commissioner Wheaton
that the motion of this mornings meeting, instructing the.CityLClerk to write
a letter cancelling the City's participation in the Planning Study, be rescind-
ed and that in its stead a letter be written confirming the City's intention
to participate, carried.
Motion by Mr. Wheaton and Mr. Yowell to adjourn, carried.
