Attorney John ~shop, representing the North Perry Avenue Water District, pre-
sented the Water District's ~eq~est for the approval of the use of asphalt cement
pipe in the distributioh system, having in mind that at some future time the District
would become part of the City System.
Commissioner Wheaton stated that the City couldnot stop them from using the
cement pipe, but they did not recommend its use, and if the District became a part
of the City system, the City would probably require replacement to cast iron pipe
as is being used in new projects and for replacements; he also ~ated that the Dis-
trict has failed to cooperate fully with the City by not-advising the City what
they intend to do or are doing.
Attorney Bishop assured the City Council he would advise his client to be
more co-operative and would furnish the City with a copy o£ the tentative plans of
the Distriots Engineers, Parker and Hill, for the City's information; that he woul¢
also recommend that the District's Engineers come in and talk with Mr. Casad, Water
Superintendent, concerning their present comprehensive plans~
Attorney Bishop was advised the City Council could not tell the District at
this time what they can do regarding the use of asphalt cement pipe, but that the
City did not recommend its use.
The press inquired of the Council members what they intended to do to balance
the budget, whether there would be any raises, or what cuts were necessary, and
where,-th~y would be made.
Miss Cullin replied that her recommendations have been put into a letter to
be presented at the next Council meeting, that she was merely making suggestions as
she has made all the cuts in her departments possible at this time.
Commissioner ~eaton stated he would reduce expenditures to correspond with
what he would have to work with.
Motion by Miss~ullin and Mr. Wheaton that the bills approved by the majority
of the Council be paid, carried.
Adjournment.
