before the County Commissioners and as a result of that meeting the County Commis-
sioners passed a motion agreeing to the proposal that was submitted to have the Hu-
mane Society handle the animal control problems within the County but the motion was
made contingent upon the Commissioners of'the City of Bremerton going along with the
proposal as well as Port Orchard.
Nr. Sanchez stated the Humane Society group had hoped to start their program the
1st of August and by doing this they would be given a basis on operation expense to
help in making up their budget for the next year. They figured a formula of cost
on a 50/50 basis--City of Bremerton and County of Kitsap with 10% to cover Towns of
Winslow, Poulsbo and Port Orchard. They would like the City to donate one truck
(the present pound truck) and the County of Kitsap have assured them a pickup truck
which they may use with a plastic top.
In order to start business immediately they would need $1,891.89 plus a dona-
tion of the two trucks.' They have received radio dispatch equipment for the two
trucks from the Sheriff's Office.
Another point he brought out is that they wo~ld be relieving the Treasurer's
Office of the job of issuing pet licenses as the collecting would be done by them.
Mayor stated that due to Mr. Schoneman just receiving his copy of the proposal
the matter would be discussed this week and he was sure that the representatives of
the Humane Society would get a favorable answer from the Commissioner of the City of
Bremerton at next Council meeting.
