Mr. Jarstad reported the estimated census for the year 198§ s~wed a de-
crease of 7,~24. The census is estimated at ~2,~81. Part of the decrease is
due to the departing of military personnel from the area, which counted for
8,908. The drop in population will mean a loss of $1~0,000 in State funds
for the coming year~ (approximately). This will increase the budgeting bur-
den of the City, and we are hopeful the people will vote favorably on the
Sales Tax Initiative in the fall.
Mr. Clark clarified that these census figures have not yet been studied
by the Council , a~d are merely e~timates.
