SUMMARY: In completing the design for the next phase of the SR 304 Transportation Improvement
Project, the City found that a retaining wall is necessary along a portion of Charleston Beach Road
which has a steep slope. The wall will be approximately 275 feet long and vary in height from 4 to 12
feet. The City has negotiated a Professional Services Agreement with Shannon and Wilson, Inc. to
provide engineering design services for the retaining wall. The not-to-exceed amount of the
agreement is $40,000.00.

FISCAL IMP ACTS (Include Budgeted Amount): This project is funded by the State Nickel Gas
Tax and is approved in the 2006 budget.

RECOMMENDED MOTION: Move to approve the Professional Services Agreement with
Shannon and Wilson, Inc. in an amount not-to-exceed $40,000.00 to provide engineering design
services for the retaining wall on Charleston Beach Road in conjunction with the SR 304
Transportation Improvement Project and authorize the Mayor to finalize and execute the necessary
contract documents for the agreement.
