Mayor Jarstad called on Capt. Lively to report on his investigation of the operation of taxicabs in the City, explaining that the Council felt this was the proper procedure under-the new ordinance. Capt. Lively presented a graph, and commented that we now have a problem with the limit on cab stands~ and the congestion on certain days, with cabs going around the block. He reported on his contacts with other cab companies, and expressed the opinion that the necessary service could be provided by existing cab operators. Representing the applicant, Mrs. Jack Bailey, Olympia View Circle, Silverdale referred to the estimated loss of fares reported for Arrow Taxi and raised the question as to why he has not replaced the cab that was wrecked and for which he holds a license. Commissioner Clark com- mented that he has the right to have the license transferred to another cab, and Mrs. Bailey inquiredl as to how long he has to do this. Mr. Cross stated he was representing Hoots Owl and Arrow Cab this evening and that they had no objec-. tion to the license being granted, and that they felt competition would be good.
