The meeting was called to order by ~ayor Jarstad and the Invocation was given by Brigadier Carl Andreasen of the Salvation Army. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as amended. The City Clerk announced that it was the time and place set for a public hear- lng on the vacation of an alley abutting Lots 15 and 16, Block 8, Town of Bremerton, which was petitioned by Norris and Isaac Soriano. Notion by Mr. Clark and Mr. Schoneman to open the hearing, carried unanimously. The City Clerk read a letter from George Plescher, Planning Director, which included an excerpt of the minutes of the Planning Commission meeting of December 17, 1969. The excerpt stated that the intent of the vacation was to tear-down the building now occupied by Britt Signs and construct a parking lot which would be beneficial because it would make it possible for garbage trucks, etc. to drive throu~h. It is now a dead-end alley. The alley ~ould still be accessible to the Shanghai Hestaurant, and the abutting property owners had been contacted and had no objection to the vacation. No objections were made from the Fire or Police De- partments. The vacation was therefore approved unanimously by the Planning Commis- sion. Planning Aide Ho~mann pointed out the location of the alley on a map and ex- plained briefly the proposed use. ~ayor Jarstad asked if there was any one in the audience who wished to speak for or against the vacation. There being none, Mayor Jarstad moved to approve the vacation and instruct the City Attorney to draft an ordinance accomplishing same; seconded by Com~nissioner Schonemau, and carried unanimously.
