capital fund for purchase of busgs to be acctmmlated.

and the matter was tabled indefinitely (on motion of Senator Gordon Walgren). City there-
fore does not face the threat of loss of about $86,000 a year (from the Gasoline excise tax)
for the busses.
Re measuves before the Senate relating to sharing of revenues (with counties, states
and cities), although a long way from reality, would return to Bremerton approximately
$174,000 from revenues goin~%o the Federal government and being returned back.
Co"missioner Schoneman:-
As stated last week, one million fish will be placed at Gorst Creek pumping station--
date expected to be Msrch 8.

Two preliminary copies of the TOPICS report have been received as prepared by Redford
engineers and are being reviewed by the Engineer's office for comments. Some areas need
corrections and copies will be available to all.
Boundary Review Board will have another hearing on the watershed annexation April 1. It
appears this is the third instance of annexation where they have invoked jurisdiction.
The new VACTOR is so large it is about impossible to work the central business district
during the day, so the crew comes in about 4:00 A.M., when they can have the streets clear
of traffic. Will cover downtown area in about four days.
On Phase IV - %~ashington Ave.: Panels are going up for concrete pouring; reinforcing
pilings have been put in to prevent slippage of buildings.
Increased street lighting is going in continually.
Mayor Jarstad:-
Referring to hearings before the Boundary Review Board on annexations, expressed sur-
prise that a recent newspaper article said the Board was going to issue subpoenas to force
people to testify; that the City of Bremerton had been represented by all possible staff,
including Co"missioners, and would be glad to do so again. The mention of subpoenas raised
the question as to what jurisdictions were not appearing.
Mentioned the announcements via radio and press, and from Senator Jackson's office,
that the East Park property the City had applied for as part of our Parks resources, has
been turned over to the Bureau of Outdoor Recreation by the GSA and Bremerton can pick
that up as surplus--although official notice has not yet been received. Evidently the City
of Bremerton is the first jurisdiction to receive such property under the new legislation.
Official opening of golf course, with ceremony (first nine holes), will be Saturday,
March 6, at 10:00 A.M., so that working people having Saturday off will be able to attend.
Mr. Adams:-
Reported on the new facilities for the elderly available April lst; will have entire

for sociability or to get bus passes. This was made possible by a grant under Parks
Recreation program; and expressed appreciation to Mr. Andrew Pendergast for his assistance,
as well as for the cooperation of Mr. Soriano.
Suggested the School and City bus systems might be combined; the drivers in the City

children. Co"missioner Clark commented that this is being considered and City Treasurer
Shepard is making a study of it.
