school or city purchase for public use. Pointed out commercial all along

no problem with traffic; stated the type of business (real estate offices)
are not a high traffic generator like other fast food services and gas
stations in the area.
Mayor Jarstad stated he is very firm in his thinking that this parcel should
be retained for school or public use as indicated in the View Ridge Comprehensive
Plan.
Clerk read letter from Joe Colton stating he is not opposed to the rezone.
Commissioner Schoneman stated he felt it would be in the best interests of the
City if the property is improved and developed since it has not and probably
will not be purchased for public use due to high market price; that the property
could remain in its poor present state~ for ten or twenty more years. Stated
the plan submitted is a good proposal for this area.
Commissioner Stewart stated the property has lost its value for residential
and the development would be suited to the area; also, noted that people in
the area are not against the request.
Mayor Jarstad stated the Council should at least wait until the View Ridge
Comprehensive Plan is before the Council; that this plan indicates this parcel
for public use; spoke of need for open space.
