PROJECT OVERVIEW
The purpose of this, sediment characterization study is to evaluate sediment quality near the former
. Chevron bulk fuel qepot property, and within the area of the future aquatic land lease from the
.Washington Dep<;rrtment of Natural Resources that will be obtaiIled for sewer and boardwalk
improvements. The characterization will consist of collection of up to 20 surface sediment grab
samples to characterize sediments relative to state Sediment Quality Standards (SQS).
Task 1
Objecffve:
Acffviffes:
Project Management
Parametrix will gather .available eXlstmg data from the proposed study area
coordinate with the City ofBremerton.
The following activities will apply:
· Prepare existing data summary as a Technical Memorandum
· Attend two coordination meetings with the City ofBremerton
Deliverables:' The following will be submitted:
, . Summary of existing relevant data
Assumptions: Parametrix will attend two coordination meetings with the City of Bremerton. One
meeting will be used to review the data summary and discuss sediment sampling:
One meeting will occur to present the results of sediment study.
Task 2. Sampling and Analysis Plan Preparation
Objecffve:
Acffvities:
Parametrix will prepare a draft Sampling and Analysis Plan (SAP) that describes
the approach to sediment sampling, analysis arid reporting. The SAP will follow
the Sediment Sampling and Analysis Plan Appendix: Guidance on the
Development of Sediment Sampling and Analysis Plans Meeting the Requirements
of the Sediment Management Standards (Chapter 173-204 WAC) (SAPA).
The following activities will apply:
· Prepare Draft Sampling and Analysis Plan
· Prepare Final Sampling and Analysis Plan
Deliver abIes: The following will be submitted:
· Two copies of the Draft SAP for submittal to the City
· Two copies of Final SAP incorporating City review comments
Assumpffons: The, SAP will include, three figures, including Vicinity Map, Concept Site Plan, and
Sampling Locations. Figures will be based on existing information and no new
mapping will be conducted.

DeliverabJes: Field Notes, laboratory chain of custodies, photographs.
Assumptions:
Grab sampling is assumed to take two days. The sampling platform will be
provided by Research Support Services as a sub~consultant to Parametrix. Grab
samples will be collected using a van Veen or,similar device. Puget Sound Estuary
Program (PSEP) protocols will be used for grab sample acceptantecriteria.
Sediment sampling interval will be 0-10 cm for each subtidal sample. Task cost

the SAP and listed in Table 1 of tlie Department of Ecology SAP A,guidance .
document as well as conventional sediment variables. The data summary table will
be in spreadsheet format and will compare data results with applicable SQS for
each analyte. It is assumed that bioassay analysis will not be required. The cost
assumes that 25 sediment samples (including one field duplicate) will be analyzed.
Task 5. Report
