The permit holder must notify the Building Official when ready for the inspections. Failure of the permit holder to notify the Building Official of required inspections may result in the stoppage of the work until such time that the permit holder can substantiate to the building official that the concealed work meets or exceeds code requirements. Any demolition, testing, or fmancial burden shall be borne directly by the permit holder. Failure to substantiate code requirements will indemnify the City against any and all responsibility or liability connected with the construction. After study of the American Concrete Institute publication ACI 437R-67 we concluded that an analytical investigation of the structures strength was most appropriate. Measurements of the core holes revealed a total concrete slab thickness of eight (8) inches. Since the concrete has been in place for sometime and the general condition of the material is good we assigned a conservative estimate of its ultimate strength at 4,000 lbs. per sq. in. il' The above figures were used in designing a correction to the problem using the Building Code loads for passenger car parking in, our repair scheme. It would cost little more to provide for commercial vehicle parking in the repair design. I have contacted two contractors\<':who, may: be interested in! ,bidding on the corrective work required.
