PUBLIC RECOGNITION CONTINUED:
Commissioner Stewart stated that everything is always under review,
we do make mistakes sometime. He stated the reason it was raised
was that the License Inspector wrote a memo that the law had not been
changed in over 27 years at a time when the cost of playing games
was 5¢ compared to 50¢.
Commissioner Swanson stated that during the budget meetings
that Mr. Wheeler and Mr. Olney had been instructed by the
Commissioners to go out and come up with an updated version of
amusement tax on these machines and gambling tax as well. He
felt that Mr. Wheeler was acting under direct orders of the Commiss-
ioners. He felt that leaving this unchanged for 27 years, that a
gradual increase should be established rather than all at once.
Motion by Commissioner Swanson to amend the ordinance to read $75.00
instead of $125.00 died for a loack of second.
Mayor Nelson stated that there will be further discussions in Ene future.
Mayor Nelson complimented the tavern owners on their conduct in this

actions of our department heads, that we did vote on the issue and
make the decisions.

inance.

ments with low usage machines.

with the Humane SOciety and related an incident to the Council which
had recently happed in her neighborhood.
Commissioner Swanson stated that this type of testimony is why the
City went to outisde contract in the past and probably would in the
future.
Commissioners Reports:
Commissioner Stewart stated he felt going for bid on animal control
would become a problem because we had no facilities to rent out at
this time, and that with the private company, this had become a
problem.
Commissioner Stewart stated that he would be gone on Thrusday to
attend a hearing in Olympia regarding bad check issue.
Commissioner Swanson stated there was a tree in city right of way
on Marine Drive and this will have to be topped or possibly removed.

supported the efforts of the local model railroad club and they were
in need again of a location. He suggested the use of the basement
of the old Manette Fire Station. It was suggested the neighborhood
be surveyed for their input.
