11D - RESOLUTION NO. 2800. AMENDING THE MASTER PLAN FOR PENDERGAST REGIONAl
PARK FOR CONSTRUCTION OF INDOOR ATHLETIC/RECREATION FAClLTIES (#AB01-034):
Assistant Parks & Recreation Director Jodi Wroblewski, summarized that at Council's direction, staff
has proceeded with the process for developing a land lease for construction of a privately financed
recreation facilities at Pendergast Regional Park. One step of that process requires a modification to
the existing Master Plan for the park, which was originally approved by Council on April 7, 1993. The
proposed modifications to the Master Plan call for an indoor soccer facility to be constructed in an
area previously designated as a future softball field, and for an outdoor batting cage facility to
relocated onto a site previously designated as an open turf area. Staff believes that the proposed
changes will not generate more traffic or create a higher demand for parking space than the uses
envisioned in the original plan. These concepts for changes received a favorable response during a
presentation to the Pendergast Memorial Committee last spring. The proposed amendments to the
Pendergast Regional Park's Master Plan were discussed and endorsed by the Bremerton Parks and
Recreation Commission at its meeting on January 23, 2001.

term. Mr. Reed stated that a remedy is needed to improve transportation across the bridge.
Mr. L~W agreed that the bridge improvements would also improve the economy. ~
reiterated that the second bridge is needed, and that is the message that the Council wishes to send
to the Legislature.

the bridge would not be built on the Tacoma Narrows but the fees must be equitable throughout the
State.
