Amendment with Yakima County for Inmate COUNCIL MEETING Date: January 19, 2004

SUMMARY: The City currently contracts with Yakima County for the housing of inmates. Most, if
not all, City of Bremerton inmates are housed in the Kitsap County jail, however, it is necessary to
maintain the contract with Yakima Cotmty in order to provide additional housing for inmates in the
event space is not available at the Kitsap County jail. The proposed amendment extends the current
contract with Yakima County through December 31, 2005 and adjusts the compensation rates.
