for design of the Skatepark in Eastpark Department: Parks and Recreation

SUMMARY: In the fourth quarter of 2003 a panel people convened and interviewed 4 skatepark
design companies who had responded to an RFQ to design a new skatepark in Eastpark. This panel
consisted of representatives from the Bremerton Parks and Recreation Commission, Bremerton
Skaters and Supporters United (BSSU), and City Staff. Miles Yanick & Co. was selected by this panel
to do the design of this new park. The attached PSA is comprehensive, and includes design support all
the way through construction. An important element of the design process will be conducting public
meetings to ensure a park design that is consistent with the desires of the majority of the future users.
The contract amount to perform these services is $44,000.

FISCAL IMPACTS (Include Budgeted Amount): This project is part of the approved "Skatepark"
project ($275,000) in Fund 310, Parks Facilities Constuction for 2004.

RECOMMENDED MOTION: The City Council approve the Professional Services Agrement with
