Vacating a portion of the north/south alley Department: PW&U, Engineering

SUMMARY: The City received a petition from Olympic College to vacate a portion of the
north/south alley between 13th and 16* Streets, and a portion of 15th Street between Broadway and
Warren Avenues. Olympic College incorporated the proposed vacated area into the new student
parking lot. Olympic College is granting a public access easement to the City. In addition, Olympic
College is dedicating Broadway Avenue for public use. Therefore, no compensation is required for
this right-of-way vacation. Since Olympic College is a governmental agency, compensation may also
be waived for that reason. The City Council is being requested to establish a hearing date of October
20, 2004, to consider the proposed vacation.
