4. SUMMARY STATEMENT AND REQUIREMENT FOR COUNCIL ACTION:
Attached is the contract proposal to purchase one (1) Quint Aerial Apparatus via a sole source contract with the
Seagrave Corporation. The City wishes to purchase this Seagraves apparatus as a sole source because it will continue
our effort to standardize the fleet. This has several benefits including increased safety because the controls for each
apparatus in our fleet will be the same thereby reducing the risk of a mistake. Also, this will bring about greater efficiency
during maintenance of the apparatus. The city has received a good price and are within the budgeted amount specified.
5. RECOMMENDATION:
Move to find that the findings and recommendation of the Fire Department Apparatus Specification Committee
(Attached) are an appropriate basis for a sole source acquisition; that the City will be benefited by making this
purchase as a sole source purchase from the manufacturer; and further that the Mayor is authorized to finalize and
execute necessary purchase agreements to purchase one (1) Quint Aerial Apparatus from the Seagrave Corporation
via a sole source contract subject to the approval of the City Attorney.

and push delivery off until middle or late 2004.
10. IMPACT ON STAFFING, BUDGETS~ FACILITIES, EQUIPMENT OR OTHER RESOURCES:
