CITY OF BREMERTON
CITY COUNCIL
S~CT: Kitsap Lake Property Purchases Committee Meeting Date: June 24, 2003
COUNCIL MEETING Date: July 9, 2003
Department: Parks & Recreation
Presenter: Jodi Wroblewski
Phone: 360/473-5429
SUMMARY: In 2002, the city of Bremerton sold. 18 acres of park land to Bremerton Chrysler for
$51,000. This sale settled an encroachment issue by this business. Because the property was given to
the City for park purposes, it was required that the City replace it with more park land. Two pieces of
property were identified south of Kitsap Lake Park; a 10 acre parcel owned by John Branin and J.L.
Heagy and a .87 acre parcel owned by Terry Ryon. Both properties were appraised by A.C.E. PS, Inc.
and were found to have significant wet-lands. After negotiating with the property owners and
receiving the National Park Service approvals, the Parks & Recreation Department is prepared to
purchase the two pieces of property as replacement for. 18 acres lost by encroachment.
