SUMMARY: At the request of the Council, the Department of Community Development has conducted a citizen process
leading to the development of recommended changes to the sign chapter of the zoning code. The proposed ordinance
recommends that off-premises signs, vehicle mounted signs, and most billboards be added to the existing list of prohibited
sign types. It also suggests new siting standards for "sandwich board" signs and additional mechanisms for amortizing non-
conforming signs.
This proposed ordinance addresses a moritorium that expires on July 23, 2003. This proposed ordinance was
recommended for approval by the Planning Commission on May 20, 2003.
