SUMMARY: · As a member of the Kitsap County HOME Consortium, the City of Bremerton
receives an annual allocation of HOME funds fiom the Department of Housing and Urban
Development (HUD) to expand the supply of safe, sanitary and affordable housing for low income
persons. The City Council is responsible to make the f'mal determination concerning use of the funds.
Kitsap Community Resources requests $650,000 of HOME funds for use as a portion of the the
overall acquisition and tenant relocation costs of Opal Court apartment complex in Bremerton. This
apartment complex will continue to serve low income tenants, however the units would be used for a
Transitional Housing Program. The Transitional Housing Program will provide affordable housing
combined with Case Management services for low-income, homeless and at risk ofhomelessness
families and individuals.
