SUMMARY: The current animal control contract with Kitsap Humane Society provides for annual
review of scope of services and compensation. It is being proposed to increase the annual
compensation by $2000 to total $183,634 for 2004. The increase is due to increased costs of
processing animal licensing as well as overall CPI impacts of providing a full scope of services to the
City of Bremerton. Also, due to budget constraints, the Society has had to cut back its level of service
on Sundays to emergency response.
ATTACHMENTS:
FISCAL IMPACTS (Include Budgeted Amount): Proposed increase of $1 for pet licenses
incorporated in the proposed 2004 budget will cover the $2000 increase in contract amount.

RECOMMENDED MOTION:
Move to approve the contract modification agreement No. I with Kitsap Humane Society and
authorize the Mayor to execute the agreement in substantially the same form as presented.
