4. SU/~ARY STATEMENT AND REQUIREMENT FOR COUNCIL ACTION:
It is the responsibility of each city to periodically redistrict its
governmental unit based upon population information from the most recent
federal census. The City hired the Central Puget Sound Economic
Development District to perform the analysis and propose boundary
adjustments as necessary. The District adjusted the boundaries to meet
Washington state statutory requirements. Several meetings were held with
the council in committee and a public hearing was held on August 28, 2002.
City Charter requires an ordinance to change council districts.
