4. S~Y STATEMENT AND REQUIREMENT FOR COUNCIL ACTION:
It is the responsibility of each city to periodically redistrict its
governmental unit based upon population information from the most recent
federal census. The City hired the Central Puget Sound Economic
Development District to perform the analysis and propose boundary
adjustments as necessary. The District adjusted the boundaries to meet
Washington state statutory requirements. The statute requires one public
hearing on the redistricting plan at least one week before adoption of the
plan. An ordinance adopting the districts by legal description will be
brought to council following this hearing. The City consultant, Richard
Berndt is present to present the plan.
