This equipment purchase is for the improvements to wastew~er pump station WB-3 as required by the City's CSO
Reduction Plan. Specifications and design documents were prepared and competitive bids were received for pre-
purchase of this equipment. Pre-purchase is required to meet the schedule for construction of the improvements
currently in design. Bids were opened April 15, 2002 with one bidder providing a complete equipment package per
specifications for a total of $533,603.00 including tax. Discussion with the design engineer confirmed the bid price is
reasonable ha~l on the specifications. It is recommended that the City Council approve the award of the contract with
Harbor Pacific Contractors, Inc. for the WB-3 PS Upgrade - Pump/VFD Equipment Purchase as defined in the bid
document in the amount of $533,603.00 including tax.

The City Council approve the award of the contract with Harbor Pacific Contractors, Inc. for the WB-3 PS Upgrade -
Pump/VFD Equipment Purchase as defined in the bid document in the amount of $533,603.00 including tax and
authorize the Mayor to execute the same.

The City will be unable to complete improvements to Pump Station WB-3 in accordance with the CSO Reduction Plan
and federal consent decree.
