5. IMPACT ON NON-PASSAGE:
6. IMPACT ON STAFFING, BUDGETS, FACILITIES, EQUIPMENT OR OTHER RESOURCES
The cost for the care and custody of prisoners falls within the budget of
the Bremerton Police Department. However the Court has a direct and
potentially dramatic impact on the amount of funds expended on jail beds.
A large increase in the use of jail space could adversely impact the
Police budget and jeopardize other programs within the Police Department.
The use of beds in Yakima will enable the Court to incarcerate more
offenders, at a lower daily cost than at the Kitsap County jail. The daily
rate (set out in the contract) decreases as the number of inmates referred
to Yakima from Kitsap County increases.
