4. SUMMARY STATEMENT AND REQUIREMENT FOR COUNCIL ACTION:
The City of Bremerton will receive an estimated $550,000 in Community Development Block Grant Funds for
year 2002 from HUD. The City previously provided set-asides for the following activities: $90,000 for CDBG
administration; $100,000 for the City's housing program; and $50,000 for code enforcement.
Applications for the remaining $310,000 in funds were accepted on August 22. We received 18 applications
requesting $442,311. City staffreviewed the applications to determine they met threshold requirements and
were consistent with HUD regulations. The Citizens Advisory Committee (Roy Mcinnes, Tina Davis, and
Harry Combs) reviewed the applications, interviewed each applicant, and rated the project in accordance with
the approved action plan. The ratings were averaged and funds were awarded to those receiving the highest
average score. The Advisory Committee's recommendations are attached.
8. RECOMMENDATION:
I move to approve the set asides and the Citizen's Advisory Committee recommendations as presented.
