Due to reorganization within the Parks & Recreation Department in February 2001, administrative
job functions were reassigned in order to accomplish the day-to-day operations. Subsequently, the
Office Assistant I was doing more and more tasks outside of the OA I job description. We have been
working with the Human Resources Department and the Civil Services Officer, Annie Davis. Ms.
Davis has reviewed the current tasks in light of the Office Assistant II job functions and concurs that
this is a reasonable personnel move. We are proposing to delete the Office Assistant I position, which
recently became vacant, listed in the Parks & Recreation Department's budget, and to add one (1)
Office Assistant II position (for a total of two (2) OA II's).
The current Office Assistant I position is funded at a level that is comparable with the first step of the
Office Assistant II classification (grade 5 level 1 - $ 2067/month). If passed, this change would not
increase the Parks & Recreation budget.
8. RECOMMENDATION:
To approve the deletion of one (1) Office Assistant I position and add one (1) Office Assistant H
position to the Parks & Recreation Department's 2001 - 2002 Staffing Authorization. 0.~
