4. SUMMARY STATEMENT AND REQUIREMENT FOR COUNCIL ACTION: The City applies for
and accepts the Washingto~ Traffic Safety Commission Bremerton-Kitsap County Traffic Safety Task Force
Project Grant funding of $70,00~0. A local match of seventy-five percent (75%) is required for this project.
Cash match is not required. New money is not needed. This project directly contributes to the reduction and
severity of traffic related deaths and injuries in Kitsap County. In addition, the grant establishes and serves as
the primary funding source for the Traffic Safety Coordinator's salary and wages. The Traffic Safety
Coordinator Employment Service Contract outlines the terms of employment and identifies the specialized
duties required for the Coordinator's position.
5. RECOMMENDATION:
1. Move to approve applying for the ,grant project funds and ~dministering the project
agreement with the Washington State Traffic Safety Commission (WTSC); and
2. Move to accept and approve the employment contract with SHirley Wise as
Traffic Safety Coordinator.
