4. SUM]~ARY STATEMENT AND REQUIREMENT FOR N: ............
On March 20, 2000, a Notice and Order to Abate Unsafe Condition was issued for the property
located at 1910 N. WycoffAvenue. The house had been abandoned for many years and vandnlized
numerous times. All attempts by the City and the mortgage company to keep the building secured
against entry failed. The certified mail copy of the abatement order was returned by the Post O]~fiee as
"uuelaimed', and the owner failed to eomply with the deadlines speeified in the order. The house was
demolished by Pubile Works on March 7, 2001. The co~t of the work, including the administrntive fee,
totaled $7,897.45. Council must now decide if the fees are just and reasonable and how they should be
collected.
RECOMMENDATION:
I move that Council, by Resolution #~(~ ~, order that the fees incurred for the abatement of a
dangerous structure located at 1910 N. Wycoff Avenue be collected as reasonable abatement costs and
become a lien against the property.
