DIGITAL RECORDING <br /> CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES <br /> Wednesday, September 5, 2018 <br /> The weekly meeting of the City Council of the City of Bremerton was called to order Wednesday, <br /> September 5, 2018, at 5:00 PM in Council Conference Room 603 of the NORM DICKS GOVERNMENT <br /> CENTER, 345 6th Street, Bremerton, Washington, with Council President Eric Younger <br /> presiding. Council Members present were Richard Huddy, Michael Goodnow, Tony Hillman, Kevin <br /> Gorman, and Pat Sullivan. Council Member Leslie Daugs was absent. Also present were City <br /> Attorney Roger Lubovich; City Clerk Angela Woods; Council Assistant Christine Grenier; and Kevin <br /> Matthew, Information Services Manager. <br /> A COUNCIL BRIEFING was held to discuss General Council Business at 5:00 PM in the Council <br /> Conference Room. At 5:30 PM the meeting moved to the Meeting Chambers. <br /> The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Council Member Pat Sullivan followed by the invocation <br /> provided by Bishop Kurt Wiest from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. <br /> MAYOR'S REPORT— Mayor Wheeler... <br /> • Shared that Labor Day Weekend events were very well attended in Bremerton and looked <br /> forward to next year; <br /> • Read a letter on behalf of a resident who thanked Engineering staff for improving <br /> community safety, and for showing dedication and compassion in this process to a family <br /> that was impacted by an accident on Tracyton Beach Road; <br /> • Recognized Marixa Scott and Marty Garland of the Police Department for their efforts in <br /> evaluating a crime scene, which ultimately resulted in a solid case and conviction; <br /> • Discussed possible grant opportunities that the City of Bremerton may pursue in 2019; and <br /> • Introduced Kathy Cocus, Kitsap Economic Development Alliance (KEDA)to provide a 2nd <br /> Quarter Update; and invited Marit Bockelie, Bremerton Letterpress to share her story. <br /> President Younger announced that Item 6A has been pulled from tonight's agenda... <br /> PUBLIC RECOGNITION <br /> Martitha May invited the community to attend the 3rd Annual Sacrifice of Service (SOS) Program <br /> on Tuesday, September 11 from 9:00 to 11:00 at Evergreen Rotary Park; announced that <br /> volunteers are welcome; and requested help to locate a podium for use during the event. <br /> Karen Vargas announced the community Harvest House Party on Wednesday, October 31 from <br /> 5:00 to 9:00 PM at the Marvin Williams Center. <br /> David Raymond encouraged attendance at the 9/11 Observance Ceremony on Tuesday, <br /> September 11 from 6:30 to 7:00 PM at the Kitsap 9/11 Memorial located at Evergreen Rotary Park, <br /> and was pleased to announce that Mayor Greg Wheeler would be the Keynote Speaker. He also <br /> thanked all those who volunteered to help with a recent clean-up at the site; and announced a <br /> fundraiser to maintain the Memorial would be held on Saturday, September 8 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM <br /> at the 19th Hole Sports Bar& Grill located in Chico. <br /> CONSENT AGENDA <br /> 5A— Claims & Check Register: Check Numbers 380647 through 380894 and EFT-V18858 <br /> through EFT-V18902 in the amount of$3,883,634.58; Regular Payroll (and Payouts)for the <br /> pay period ending August 15, 2018 in the amount of$831,965.82; and Retiree Payroll for <br /> the pay period ending August 31, 2018 in the amount of$52,716.04 <br />
