DIGITAL RECORDING <br /> CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES <br /> Wednesday, January 4, 2017 <br /> The weekly meeting of the City Council of the City of Bremerton was called to order Wednesday, <br /> January 4, 2017, at 5:00 PM in Council Conference Room 603 of the NORM DICKS GOVERNMENT <br /> CENTER, 345 6th Street, Bremerton, Washington, with 2016 Council President Eric Younger <br /> presiding. Council Members present were Richard Huddy, Dino Davis, Greg Wheeler, Jerry <br /> McDonald, Leslie Daugs, and Pat Sullivan. Also present were City Attorney Roger Lubovich; City <br /> Clerk Shannon Corin; Legislative Assistant Lori Smith; and Kevin Matthew, Information Services <br /> Manager. <br /> A COUNCIL BRIEFING was held to discuss General Council Business at 5:00 PM in the Council <br /> Conference Room. At 5:30 PM the meeting moved to the Meeting Chambers. <br /> The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Council Member Pat Sullivan followed by the invocation <br /> provided by Reverend Walt Le Couteur of the Kitsap Rescue Mission. <br /> COUNCIL OFFICER ELECTIONS <br /> President Younger opened nominations for 2017 Council President. <br /> Leslie Dauqs nominated Dino Davis. <br /> Richard Huddy nominated Eric Younger. <br /> With no further nominations, President Younger asked for a vote by ballot. <br /> Voted in Favor of Davis: Daugs, Wheeler, Davis <br /> Voted in Favor of Younger: Sullivan, McDonald, Huddy, Younger <br /> Following 3-Votes for Davis; and 4-Votes for Younger; Younger was elected Council President for <br /> the year 2017, and remained seated as the Chair. <br /> President Younger then opened nominations for Council Vice-President. <br /> Pat Sullivan nominated Jerry McDonald. <br /> Dino Davis nominated Leslie Daugs. <br /> With no further nominations, President Younger asked for a vote by ballot. <br /> Voted in Favor of McDonald: Sullivan, McDonald, Huddy, Younger <br /> Voted in Favor of Daugs: Daugs, Wheeler, Davis <br /> Following 4-Votes for McDonald; and 3-Votes for Daugs; McDonald was elected Council Vice- <br /> President for the year 2017. <br /> MAYOR'S REPORT— Mayor Patty Lent... <br /> • Honored Vern Frykholm who celebrated his 100-year birthday in September; <br /> • Brought forward Arts Commission Members Garrett Kobbs and Jacquelyn Speare to <br /> recognize the Winners of the Chimacum Ferry Art Contest: Don Turriaqa; Bill Wallcott; <br /> Maria Jost; Shawn McIntyre; Lori Grant; Denny Hurtado; Larry Davidson; Paula Gill; <br /> Susan Wierserna; Susan Wheeler; Anthony Jones; Merle Jones; Judy Anderson; Sally <br /> Banfill; Phil Bumqaetner; and Kate Cendjas; and <br /> • Was thrilled that a Seahawks Rally would be taking place on Friday, January 6 at 1:00 PM on <br /> the Louis Mentor Boardwalk and invited everyone down to show the Seahawks our support. <br />
