DIGITAL RECORDING <br /> CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES <br /> Wednesday, June 15, 2016 <br /> The weekly meeting of the City Council of the City of Bremerton was called to order Wednesday, <br /> June 15, 2016, at 5:00 PM in Council Conference Room 603 of the NORM DICKS GOVERNMENT <br /> CENTER, 345 6�h Street, Bremerton, Washington, with Council President Eric Younger presiding. <br /> Council Members present were Richard Huddy, Dino Davis, Greg Wheeler, Jerry McDonald, Leslie <br /> Daugs, and Pat Sullivan. Also present were City Attorney Roger Lubovich; City Clerk Shannon <br /> Corin; Legislative Assistant Lori Smith; and Kevin Matthew, Information Services Manager. <br /> A Cou►vC�� BRiEFirvG was held to discuss General Council Business at 5:00 PM in the Council <br /> Conference Room. At 5:30 PM the meeting moved to the Meeting Chambers. <br /> The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Council Member Pat Sullivan followed by the invocation <br /> provided by Pastor Eric Roberts of Discovery Fellowship. <br /> MAYOR'S REPORT—Mayor Patty Lent... <br /> • Proclaimed The Week of June 20-26, 2016 as Amateur Radio Week; then introduced Jim A. <br /> Nicolet to accept the proclamation and talk about how "hams" support the community; <br /> • Invited the community to the Grand Opening & Dedication of Lillian A. & James Walker Park <br /> � on Friday, June 17 at 3:30 PM; <br /> • Proclaimed June 19, 2016 as Bremerton's 15t''Annual Recognition of 151 Years of <br /> Freedom from Slavery(Juneteenth Day); then introduced Reqina Rave Hill to accept the <br /> proclamation and announce several events in celebration of Juneteenth Day; <br /> • Provided information on the Veterans, Seniors, and Caregivers "Free Healthy Living <br /> Warkshop" scheduled on June 23 from 1:30 to 4:30 PM at the WorkSource Cascade Room; <br /> • Hoped everyone would participate in one of the many volunteer opportunities during the United <br /> Way of Kitsap County's 23�d Annual Day of Caring on Friday, June 24; <br /> • Was excited to see Motorsport Northwest MX Series Rounds #9 and #10 on June 25-26; <br /> • Looked forward to Music in Manette Summer Concert Series at Whitey Domstead Park every <br /> Thursday for 8 weeks from 6:30 to 8:30 PM beginning July 7 with "Mason Reed"; <br /> • Added that Rock the Dock Summer Concert Series on the Boardwalk kicks-off on July 4; <br /> • Fun at the Playgrounds for children from ages 6 to 12 would be from July 11 to August 12, <br /> Monday through Friday from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with free lunch provided at noon; and a <br /> Carnival on July 5 at Kiwanis Park, July 6 at Manette Playfield, and July 7 at Blueberry Park; <br /> • Announced the West Sound Free Medical Care Clinic will be open the 3�d Wednesday of every <br /> month from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Sally's Hygiene Center located at 832 6'h Street; and <br /> • Conveyed with sadness that"Ms. Bremerton" H. Emily Moshay passed away this morning. <br /> POLICE DEPARTMENT BRIEFING <br /> Police Chief Steven Strachan used a Power Point presentation to highlight trends, statistics, and <br /> police activity for the Month of May and early June. <br /> Mavor Lent brought forward Mick Hersev to receive, as well as present Certificates of <br /> Appreciation to other volunteers Richard 8 Sabrina Huddy and Robin Henderson 8 Family for <br /> dedicating many hours to not only spruce up Ivy Green Cemetery, but also for cleaning several <br /> surrounding homes visible to attendees at the Memorial Day Celebration... <br />
