DIGITAL RECORDING CODUCL <br /> PRO <br /> CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES MAR 18 1015 <br /> Wednesday, March 4, 2015 <br /> The weekly meeting of the City Council of the City of Bremerton was called to order Wednesday, <br /> March 4, 2015, at 5:00 PM in Council Conference Room 603 of the NORM DICKS GOVERNMENT <br /> CENTER, 345 6th Street, Bremerton, Washington, with Council President Greg Wheeler presiding. <br /> Council Members present were Roy Runyon, Dino Davis, Jerry McDonald, Leslie Daugs, and Mike <br /> Sullivan. Council Member Eric Younger was absent. Also present were City Attorney Roger <br /> Lubovich; City Clerk Shannon Corin; Council Assistant Christine Grenier; and Kevin Matthew, <br /> Information Services Manager. <br /> A COUNCIL BRIEFING was held to discuss General Council Business at 5:00 PM in the Council <br /> Conference Room. At 5:30 PM the meeting moved to the Meeting Chambers. <br /> The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Council Member Mike Sullivan followed by the invocation <br /> provided by Bishop Kurt Wiest of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. <br /> MAYOR'S REPORT— Mayor Patty Lent... <br /> • Thanked USS Bremerton crew members for their hard work on cleaning up Hal's Corner; <br /> • Introduced Marion "Mick" Hersey who presented an American Flag flown over the <br /> aircraft carrier USS Ranger (before being towed out on Thursday) to Rolf Dengler which <br /> he accepted on behalf of his father Dieter Dengler, who was a rescued POW/MIA; <br /> • Presented Mr. Hersey with a Mayor& City Council Appreciation Award in recognition <br /> for being named "Elks Volunteer of the Yea►"; <br /> • Brought forward Kurt Wiest, Executive Director for the Bremerton Housing Authority, who <br /> announced that applications for the "Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Rental Assistance <br /> Program" will be accepted until Friday, March 13, 2015; President Wheeler noted that <br /> flyers and copies of a Program Fact Sheet were available on the back table; <br /> • Read a proclamation to Proclaim Saturday, March 7, 2015 as "Mission Outreach Day" <br /> which was accepted by Carl Jakobsson who invited the community to attend a Workshop <br /> at 2:00 PM followed by a Program at 4:00 PM at the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church; <br /> • Read a proclamation to Proclaim March 16 to 20, 2015 as "Community Champions for <br /> Meals on Wheels Week"which was accepted by Deborah Horne, Executive Director for <br /> Meals on Wheels Kitsap, and Members of the Volunteer Board of Directors Jennifer <br /> Ruckman and Jessica Gordy; <br /> • Reported on receiving a few personal letters of thanks for supporting a Symphony <br /> performance at City Hall; <br /> • Read a proclamation to Proclaim Friday, March 6, 2015 as "Women's History Day" <br /> which was accepted by Kathleen Cahall, Kitsap Historical Society Museum Board of <br /> Directors, who announced a free presentation will be held on Friday, March 6 beginning at <br /> 6:00 PM at the Museum located at 280 4th Street as part of First Friday Artwalk; <br /> • Was pleased to see the Bremerton's Fountain Harborside Park featured in a deck of cards <br /> handed out to AWC Legislative Action Days Conference attendees; <br /> • Read a proclamation to Proclaim March 2015 as "Brain Injury Awareness Month"which <br /> was accepted by Suzanne Griffin who mentioned that there will an event held in <br /> September with details to be announced soon; and <br /> • Congratulated Council Member Dino Davis for receiving a Community Service Award from <br /> the Kitsap County Association of Realtors. <br />
