DIGITAL RECORDING COUNCIL <br /> CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES O D <br /> Wednesday, June 4, 2014 JUN � 6 101 <br /> The weekly meeting of the City Council of the City of Bremerton was called to order Wednesday, <br /> June 4, 2014, at 5:00 PM in Council Conference Room 603 of the NORM DICKS G OVERNMENT CENTER, <br /> 345 6 Street, Bremerton, Washington, with Council President Greg Wheeler presiding. Council <br /> Members present were Eric Younger, Roy Runyon, Dino Davis, Jerry McDonald, Leslie Daugs, and <br /> Mike Sullivan. Also present were City Attorney Roger Lubovich; City Clerk Shannon Corin; <br /> Legislative Assistant Lori Smith; and Kevin Matthew, Information Services Manager. <br /> A COUNCIL BRIEFING was held to discuss General Council Business at 5:00 PM in the Council <br /> Conference Room. At 5:30 PM the meeting moved to the Meeting Chambers. <br /> The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Council Member Mike Sullivan followed by the invocation <br /> provided by Pastor Mark Adrian of Community of Christ at Memorial Lutheran Church. <br /> MAYOR'S REPORT — Mayor Patty Lent... <br /> • Reported that the value of the City was increased by $2.7 million; <br /> • Announced that there will be a Public Works Public Meeting on June 12 at 5:30 PM in the <br /> Meeting Chambers to present different ideas for improvements along Washington Avenue; <br /> • Proclaimed June 17, 2014 as "Soroptomist Recognition Day'; which was accepted by <br /> Soroptomist President Pat Degracia who invited the Council to attend a Soroptomist <br /> Celebration on June 17 at 5:30 PM in the Marine View Room at the Kitsap Conference Center; <br /> • Announced there will be free Yard Waste Round -Up for all Kitsap County Residents on <br /> Saturday, June 7 from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM at Olympic Organics at 7890 NE Ecology Road in <br /> Kingston; <br /> • Announced that new street vendor Big Daddy's BBQ Inc. will be hosting `The Great Take <br /> Over' on Monday, June 9 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the PSNS Main Gate; <br /> • Announced that the Bremerton Marina will be hosting events in conjunction with National <br /> Marina Day & Rendezvous on Friday, June 13 & Saturday, June 14; <br /> • Brought forward Sheila Collins who announced that there will be a free 'Welcome to <br /> Medicare" Class on Wednesday, June 18 at 7:00 PM in the Orchid Room at Harrison Medical <br /> Center located at 1780 Myhre Road in Silverdale; <br /> • Proclaimed June 21, 2014 as "12"' Annual Recognition of 149 Years of Freedom from <br /> Slavery', and announced that the 12 Annual Juneteenth Celebration will be held on <br /> Saturday, June 21 from Noon to 6:00 PM at Evergreen Rotary Park; <br /> • Brought forward Police Chief Strachan to discuss that passing is not allowed following use of <br /> the roundabout at the end of the Manette Bridge; <br /> • Commended Community Development Director Andrea Spencer, DCD Staff, and City <br /> Engineer Tom Knuckey for receiving the 'Vision 2040" Award received from the Puget Sound <br /> Regional Council at the PSRC General Assembly Dinner; <br /> • Displayed a photo of the finished 4 Street improvements (which did not receive an award); <br /> • Enjoyed attending the West Hills STEM Academy along with Council Member Mike Sullivan <br /> and seeing the projects in action during the 3rd Annual Underwater Vehicle Competition at <br /> Olympic High School on May 31; and <br /> • Displayed a photo of Tokitae, the new Washington State Ferry, which will be hosting an Open <br /> House on June 8; and encouraged support for Enetai to be considered for the next ferry's <br /> name. <br /> PUBLIC RECOGNITION <br /> Bob Dollar invited the community to attend the Red Cross Experience on Friday, June 6 from 4:00 to <br /> 7:00 PM in their new location on Pacific Avenue. <br />
