�UUNGIL <br /> DIGITAL RECORDING <br /> ARM <br /> CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES <br /> ? 1014 <br /> Wednesday, March 19, 2014 ® <br /> The weekly meeting of the City Council of the City of Bremerton was called to order Wednesday, <br /> March 19, 2014, at 5:00 PM in Council Conference Room 603 of the NORM DICKS GOVERNMENT <br /> CENTER 345 6" Street, Bremerton, Washington, with Council President Greg Wheeler <br /> presiding. Council Members present were Eric Younger, Roy Runyon, Dino Davis, Jerry McDonald, <br /> Leslie Daugs, and Mike Sullivan. Also present were City Attorney Roger Lubovich; Deputy City <br /> Clerk/Legislative Assistant Lori Smith; and Council Assistant Christine Grenier. <br /> A COUNCIL BRIEFING was held to discuss General Council Business at 5:00 PM in the Council <br /> Conference Room. At 5:30 PM the meeting moved to the Meeting Chambers. <br /> The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Council Member Mike Sullivan followed by the invocation <br /> provided by Reverend Ron Anderson of Manette Community Church. <br /> MAYOR'S REPORT — Mayor Patty Lent... <br /> • Proclaimed April 1, 2014 as "National Service Recognition Day", presented the proclamation to <br /> Jennifer Alik of KCR and AmeriCorps; and announced that there will be a free Family Spring Fair <br /> co- hosted by Bremerton Parks & Recreation and Kitsap Community Resources on Friday, April 4 <br /> from 11:30 AM to 3:30 PM at the Sheridan Park Community Center; <br /> • Encouraged the community to participate in local walks and runs in support of the American Heart <br /> Association's National Walking Day on Wednesday, April 2; <br /> • Invited Caroline Stein WSSEF Treasurer, to announce the 57 Annual Washington State <br /> Science & Engineering Fair on Friday, April 4 and Saturday, April 5 at Bremerton High School; and <br /> • Brought forward Patricia Hennessey Boys & Girls Club Executive Director, to announce that a <br /> "Spring Fling" filled with free youth activities will be held on Thursday, March 20 from 5:00 to 7:00 <br /> PM in the Youth Wellness Campus Gym. <br /> KITSAP CONFERENCE CENTER EXPANSION PROJECT UPDATE <br /> Arne Bakker General Manager of the Kitsap Conference Center at Bremerton Harborside, provided <br /> an update on the ongoing expansion project at the Kitsap Conference Center; and invited the public to <br /> attend the Open House scheduled for March 20 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. <br /> BPD BRIEFING <br /> Police Chief Steve Strachan provided a monthly update; described how body cameras will be used <br /> by police officers soon; and recognized Sergeant Renfro, Officer Hughes and K -9 Officer Hall for their <br /> quick thinking in saving the lives of two girls on a call to a fully involved residential fire. <br /> PUBLIC RECOGNITION <br /> Sunny Wheeler announced that volunteers are needed for the next Kiwanis Park Monthly Work Party <br /> on Saturday, March 22 from 9:00 to 11:00 AM; and added that interested volunteers who wish to help <br /> with park clean -ups throughout the City may contact the Parks Department. <br /> Mike Walton Kitsap Public Facilities District Executive Director, was pleased with the improvements <br /> at the Kitsap Conference Center and applauded all of the partners who helped move this project <br /> forward. <br /> CONSENT AGENDA <br /> 7A — Claims & Check Register: Check Numbers 357369 through 357562, and EFT -13658 through <br /> EFT -13697 in the amount of $2,303,114.44; Regular Payroll for the pay period ending <br /> February 28, 2014 in the amount of $4,606.70; Regular Payroll for the pay period ending <br /> March 15, 2014 in the amount of $679,687.15 <br />
