COUNCIL <br /> DIGITAL RECORDING <br /> CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES PROS <br /> FEB 0 5 2014 <br /> January 15, 2014 <br /> The weekly meeting of the City Council of the City of Bremerton was called to order Wednesday, <br /> January 15, 2014, at 5 00 PM in Council Conference Room 603 of the NORM DICKS GOVERNMENT <br /> CENTER, 345 6 th Street, Bremerton, Washington, with Council President Greg Wheeler presiding <br /> Council Members present were Eric Younger, Roy Runyon, Dino Davis, Jerry McDonald, Leslie Daugs, <br /> and Mike Sullivan Also present were City Attorney Roger Lubovich, City Clerk Shannon Conn, and <br /> Legislative Assistant Lori Smith <br /> A COUNCIL BRIEFING was held to discuss General Council Business at 5 00 PM in the Council <br /> Conference Room At 5 30 PM the meeting moved to the Meeting Chambers <br /> The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Council Member Mike Sullivan followed by the invocation <br /> provided by Associate Pastor Bob Westfall of the Bremerton First Church of the Nazarene <br /> BPD SWEARING -IN CEREMONY <br /> Judge James Docter administered the Oath of Office for Bremerton Police Officer Cory Dale Ditmer <br /> BPD BRIEFING <br /> Police Chief Steve Strachan welcomed new BPD Officer Ditmer, and provided a monthly update <br /> MAYOR'S REPORT — Mayor Patty Lent <br /> • Reported on the progress of new Downtown Development including housing projects near <br /> downtown and Evergreen Rotary Park, <br /> • Looked forward to the Purpose Boutique Grand Opening on Thursday, January 16 from 4 00 to <br /> 6 00 PM at 402 Pacific Avenue, <br /> • Invited everyone to attend the 20 Annual Martin Luther King, Jr Day Program & Celebration "A <br /> Day of Service in Action' beginning at 10 00 AM in the President's Hall at the Kitsap County <br /> Fairgrounds, <br /> • Displayed a copy of a flyer created to promote the improvement of local ferry service, <br /> • Reminded the community about the "Project ConnecF event on Wednesday, January 22 from <br /> 10 00 AM to 2 00 PM at the Sheridan Park Community Center located at 680 Lebo Blvd, <br /> • Encouraged support of the Kitsap Conservation District by ordering native plants by January 29, <br /> • Announced the Daddy Daughter Dance will be on February 1 from 7 00 to 10 00 PM at the Elks <br /> Lodge located at 4131 Pine Road, <br /> • Recognized Council President Greg Wheeler for receiving the Advanced Certified Municipal <br /> Leadership certification from the Association of Washington Cities (AWC), <br /> • Thanked the Kitsap Fire Fighters Benevolent Fund for providing new packets to students at Armin <br /> Jahr Elementary School, and <br /> • Was pleased to bring forward Kurt Wiest to announce the Bremerton Housing Authority Office <br /> will host an Open House & Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Thursday, January 23 from 3 30 to 5 00 <br /> PM at their new downtown location at 600 Park Avenue <br /> KEDA BRIEFING <br /> John Powers Executive Director, Kitsap Economic Development Alliance (KEDA), provided a quarterly <br /> update, and also invited the Council Members to attend the 16th Annual Decision Makers Breakfast on <br /> Wednesday, January 29 from 7 00 to 10 00 AM at the Kitsap Conference Center with acclaimed <br /> economist, John W Mitchell Ph D , Principal, M & H Economic Consultants, who returns to deliver the <br /> 2014 Economic Forecast "Year Five Transitions and Experiments" and provide valuable insight for the <br /> coming year <br /> PUBLIC RECOGNITION — There were no comments tonight <br />
