DIGITAL RECORDING COUNCIL <br /> CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES ARMED <br /> Wednesday, May 1, 2013 MAY 15 2013 <br /> The weekly meeting of the City Council of the City of Bremerton was called to order <br /> Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at 5:00 PM in Council Conference Room 603 of the NORM DICKS <br /> GOVERNMENT CENTER, 345 6"' Street, Bremerton, Washington, with Council President Greg <br /> Wheeler presiding. Council Members present were Nick Wofford, Eric Younger, Carol Arends, <br /> Faye Flemister, Wendy Priest, Adam Brockus, Leslie Daugs, and Jim McDonald. Also present <br /> were City Attorney Roger Lubovich; City Clerk Shannon Corin; and Legislative Assistant Lori <br /> Smith. <br /> A COUNCIL BRIEFING was held to discuss General Council Business at 5:00 PM in the Council <br /> Conference Room, immediately following was the Council Meeting at 5:30 PM. <br /> The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Council Member Jim McDonald followed by the <br /> invocation provided by Pastor Roger Hannigan of Apostolic Life Tabernacle. <br /> MAYOR'S REPORT — Mayor Patty Lent... <br /> • Proclaimed the Week of May 5 -11, 2013 as "Municipal Clerks Week ", which was <br /> accepted by City Clerk Shannon Corin: <br /> • Announced that Goodwill will be offering a Retail and Customer Service Training Program <br /> from May 20 to July 18 and interested individuals may contact (360) 698 -6776 for details; <br /> • Was pleased that as a result of the Mayor's, Conservation Pledge during the month of April, <br /> Bremerton remained the number one City among similar sized cities; <br /> • Proclaimed the Week of May 5 -11, 2013 as "Drinking Water Week", which was accepted <br /> by Water Resources Manager Kathleen. Cahall <br /> • Announced the Women Today event to be held on May 3 & 4 at the Kitsap County <br /> Fairgrounds in the Kitsap Sun Pavilion; <br /> • Proclaimed May 19, 2013 as "e Annual Anned Forces Motorcycle Ride & Bike Show <br /> Day" to benefit the Washington Youth Academy which was accepted by WYA Director <br /> Larry Pierce Board Coordinator Arel So lea and Race Coordinator David, Ramond : and <br /> announced that the,event would held this beginning at8:30°AM from Pendergast <br /> Park; and,the 2013 Washington Youth Academy graduation be held on Saturday, June <br /> 15; <br /> • Proclaimed May 11, 2013 as "Stamp Out Hunger Day", and announced that the annual <br /> Letter Carvers "Stamp Out Hunger" Food Drive would be held on that day; <br /> • Announced the Inaugural West Sound STEM Showcase would be held on Saturday, May 4 <br /> from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Bremerton High School; <br /> • Introduces Ni ft. Strube ',from the Bremerton Area Chamber of Commerce to provide an <br /> update on the new Armed Forces;Day Parade route; <br /> • Proclaimed the Week of Mey —10, 2013 "Son /or Corps Week'; which was accepted <br /> by Donna ,19ges ,with Catholic Services; <br /> • Looked forward to the Cinco de Mayo Celebration to be held this weekend on Callow <br /> Avenue; <br /> • Invited Marle,111111a to announce the Opening Day for the Bremerton Farmers Market on <br /> Thursday, May 2 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Evergreen Rotary Park, and on Sunday, May 5 <br /> from 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM on the Louis Mentor Boardwalk; and <br /> • Introduced John Powerss, Executive Director for the Kitsap Economic Development Alliance <br /> (KEDA) to provide a Quarter Briefing. <br />
