DIGITAL RECORDING <br /> eOUNIL AMOS <br /> CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES MAY 0 1 2013 <br /> Wednesday, April 17, 2013 <br /> The weekly meeting of the City Council of the City of Bremerton was called to order Wednesday, <br /> April 17, 2013, at 5 00 PM in the Council Conference Room 603 of the NORM DICKS GOVERNMENT <br /> CENTER, 345 6" Street, Bremerton, Washington, with Council President Greg Wheeler presiding <br /> Council Members present were Eric Younger, Carol Arends, Faye Flemister, Wendy Priest, Adam <br /> Brockus, Leslie Daugs, and Jim McDonald Council Member Nick Wofford was absent Also <br /> present were City Attorney Roger Lubovich, City Clerk Shannon Conn, and Legislative Assistant <br /> Lori Smith <br /> A COUNCIL BRIEFING was held to discuss General Council Business at 5 00 PM in the Council <br /> Conference Room At 5 30 PM the meeting moved to the Meeting Chambers and (due to <br /> technical difficulties) was convened five minutes later at 5 35 PM <br /> The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Council Member Jim McDonald followed by the invocation <br /> provided by Pastor Jerry Michaels of Voyage Community Church <br /> MAYOR'S REPORT — Mayor Patty Lent <br /> • Encouraged residents to take the Mayor's Conservation Challenge by visiting <br /> www mywaterpledge com until April 30, <br /> • Introduced Caroline Stein Washington State Science and Engineering Fair (WSSEF), and <br /> David Rubie Bremerton School District Board Member, who accepted a Mayor's Award on <br /> behalf of the 37 students recognized for their exhibits, <br /> • Proclaimed April 25, 2013 as "Pay It Forward Day", <br /> • Announced that the Bremerton Foodline will be hosting its Annual Empty Bowl fundraiser on <br /> Saturday, April 20 at 2 00 PM at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, <br /> • Proclaimed April 24, 2013 as "Arbor Day ", <br /> • Proclaimed April 22, 2013 as "Earth Day ", <br /> • Announced that an Earth Day and Arbor Day Celebration would be held on Wednesday, April <br /> 24 beginning at 10 30 AM at Kiwanis Park, <br /> • Looked forward to the Annual Kids Fishing Day hosted by the Kitsap Poggie Club on Saturday, <br /> April 27 from 8 00 AM to 1 00 PM near Otto Jarstad Park, and <br /> • Announced that the Bremerton Farmers Market will be opening on May 2 at Evergreen Rotary <br /> Park and on May 5 near the Bremerton Ferry Terminal <br /> Police Chief Steve Strachan provided a briefing on the Bremerton Police Department <br /> PUBLIC RECOGNITION <br /> Mike Strube Bremerton Area Chamber of Commerce, announced the 22 Annual Pepsi Armed <br /> Forces Golf Tournament on May 10 and the deadline to sign -up to be part of the Armed Forces <br /> Day Parade is April 29 <br /> Todd Best welcomed the public to a Memorial Day Service at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier <br /> on Monday, May 27 at 1 00 PM, and encouraged people to help with the next Forest Ridge Park <br /> Stewardship Day on Saturday, April 20 from 9 00 AM to Noon <br /> Scott Collett Bremerton School District, pointed out that after several latest Public Works street <br /> projects, Bremerton is not "bus friendly" and hoped that future engineering decisions would take <br /> busses (and other longer vehicles) into account <br />
