J� 1� � 2011 <br /> DIGITAL RECORDING <br /> CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES <br /> Wednesday, January 5, 2011 <br /> The weekly meeting of the City Council of the City of Bremerton was called to order Wednesday, <br /> January 5, 2011, at 5:00 PM in Council Conference Room 603 of the NoRM D�CKS GovERNnnENT <br /> CENTER 345 6 Street, Bremerton, Washington, with Council President Nick Wofford presiding. <br /> Council Members present were Will Maupin, Carol Arends, Greg Wheeler, Roy Runyon, Adam <br /> Brockus, Cecil McConnell, and Jim McDonald. Council Member Dianne Robinson was absent. Also <br /> present were City Attorney Roger Lubovich; City Clerk Carol Etgen; and Legislative Assistant Lori <br /> Smith. <br /> A CouNCi� BR�EF�►v� was then held to discuss General Council Business at 5:00 PM in the Council <br /> Conference Room. At 5:30 PM the meeting moved to the Meeting Chambers. <br /> The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Council Member Jim McDonald followed by the invocation <br /> provided by Reverend Ron Anderson of Manette Community Church. <br /> COUNCIL OFFICER ELECTIONS <br /> President Wofford opened nominations for Council President/Mayor Pro Tempore. <br /> Jim McDonald nominated Will Maupin � <br /> Rov Runvon nominated Dianne Robinson <br /> Greq Wheeler nominated Nick Wofford <br /> 05:34:25 City Clerk Carol Etqen counted the ballots: <br /> Voted for Will Maupin (5 Votes): McDonald, McConnell, Brockus, Arends, Maupin <br /> Voted for Dianne Robinson (1 Vote): Runyon <br /> Voted for Nick Wofford (2 Votes): Wheeler, Wofford <br /> Will Maupin was elected Council President/Mayor Pro Tempore for the year 2011, received the <br /> gavel, and was then seated as the chair for the remainder of the meeting. <br /> President Maupin then opened nominations for Council Vice-President. <br /> Carol Arends nominated Adam Brockus <br /> Nick Wofford nominated Rov Runyon. <br /> 05:37:12 City Clerk Carol Etqen counted the ballots: <br /> Voted for Adam Brockus (7 Votes): McDonald, McConnell, Brockus, Wheeler, Arends, Maupin, <br /> Wofford <br /> Voted for Roy Runyon (1 Vote): Runyon <br /> Adam Brockus was elected Council Vice-President for the year 2011. <br /> MAYOR'S REPORT — Mayor Patty Lent... <br /> • Presented a Mayor's Appreciation Award to Alex Pettvqrove for his outstanding service in <br /> selling his card collection for $400 and using the money to buy toys for the less fortunate; <br /> • Introduced Maior Jim Baker, Salvation Army, who provided an update on Sally's Camp, the new <br /> tent city and described the new location. <br /> • Introduced Courtnev Freeman, Community Frameworks, who described projects planned for <br /> West Bremerton for revitalization efforts. <br /> • Proclaimed January 13, 2019 as Korean-American Day. <br /> • Was excited to announce the Wedding Expo will be held on January 9 at the Kitsap Harborside. <br /> • Introduced Jeff Elevado who reminded Bremerton residents that they are eligible to receive a <br /> quarterly voucher to attend the Bremerton Aquatics Center for free. <br />
