DIGITAL RECORDING <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES <br />Wednesday, August 16,2017 <br />The weekly meeting of the City Council of the City of Bremerton was called to order Wednesday, <br />August 16, 2017, at 5:00 PM in Council Conference Room 603 of the NORM DICKS GOVERNMENT <br />CENTER, 345 6th Street, Bremerton, Washington, with Council Vice -President Jerry McDonald <br />presiding. Council Members present were Richard Huddy, Dino Davis, Greg Wheeler, Leslie <br />Daugs, and Pat Sullivan. Council President Eric Younger was absent. Also present were City <br />Attorney Roger Lubovich; City Clerk Shannon Corin; Legislative Assistant Lori Smith; and Kevin <br />Matthew, Information Services Manager. <br />A COUNCIL BRIEFING was held to discuss General Council Business at 5:00 PM in the Council <br />Conference Room. At 5:30 PM the meeting moved to the Meeting Chambers. <br />The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Council Member Pat Sullivan followed by the Invocation <br />provided by Reverend Paul Meeker of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. <br />MAYOR'S REPORT — Mayor Lent announced the following <br />• The Farewell Party & Picnic for Japanese Exchange Students Minon Shimooka, Kanon <br />Yamane, and Nonoka Fuiita would he held this Friday, August 18; <br />• To increase public awareness to those affected by brain injury, the public was invited to <br />Walk, Run, & Roll for Thought on Saturday, September 9 starting at 1:00 PM at Lions Park; <br />• Proclaimed August 26, 2017 as "Sinclair Missionary Baptist Church Community Give - <br />Away Block Party" Day; and announced that the event will be held on Saturday, August 26 <br />from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Sinclair Missionary Baptist Church at 4900 Auto Center Blvd; <br />• The Annual Blackberry Festival for 2017 would be from Friday, September 1 to Sunday, <br />September 3 in downtown Bremerton and along the Boardwalk; <br />• City residents are invited to participate in the Beautify Bremerton All City Clean -Up on <br />Saturday, September 16 from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM in the parking lot at Legion Field; <br />• Was pleased to learn that over $28 million in permit revenue has been received to date; <br />• The Annual City Employee Picnic was a big success; and <br />• A day of Live Well Kitsap activities and workshops on wellness and fitness will be held on <br />Saturday, September 16 at the Silverdale YMCA. <br />PUBLIC RECOGNITION <br />Barbie Iman expressed concerns about the focus of Community Development Block Grant <br />funding in downtown; and hoped for code enforcement reform to help address blight conditions <br />throughout the city. <br />CONSENT AGENDA <br />5A — Claims & Check Register: Check Numbers 374761 through 374998 and EFT -17613 <br />through EFT -17660 in the amount of $2,331,703.62; Regular Payroll for the pay period <br />ending July 31, 2017 in the amount of $781,871.06; and Regular Payroll (Payout) for the <br />pay period ending July 31, 2017 in the amount $409.05 <br />5B — Minutes of Meeting — August 2, 2017 <br />5C — Minutes of Study Session — August 9, 2017 <br />5D — Confirm Appointment of Marwan Cameron to the Bremerton Housing Authority Board of <br />Commissioners <br />5E — Set the Annual Compensation of the Municipal Court Judge for 2017 and 2018 <br />
