DIGITAL RECORDING <br /> CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES <br /> Wednesday, February 1, 2017 <br /> The weekly meeting of the City Council of the City of Bremerton was called to order Wednesday, <br /> February 1, 2017, at 5:00 PM in Council Conference Room 603 of the NORM DICKS GOVERNMENT <br /> CENTER, 345 6th Street, Bremerton, Washington, with 2017 Council President Eric Younger <br /> presiding. Council Members present were Richard Huddy, Dino Davis, Greg Wheeler, Jerry <br /> McDonald, and Pat Sullivan. Council Member Leslie Daugs was absent. Also present were <br /> Assistant City Attorney Kylie Purves; City Clerk Shannon Corin; Legislative Assistant Lori Smith; <br /> and Kevin Matthew, Information Services Manager. <br /> A COUNCIL BRIEFING was held to discuss General Council Business at 5:00 PM in the Council <br /> Conference Room. At 5:30 PM the meeting moved to the Meeting Chambers. <br /> The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Council Member Pat Sullivan followed by the Invocation <br /> provided by Reverend Kathleen Kingslight of St. Pauls' Episcopal Church. <br /> MAYOR'S REPORT— Mayor Patty Lent... <br /> • Proclaimed February 2017 as "Black History Month"; which was accepted by Karen <br /> Vargas who announced that they would be celebrating local black leaders at the Embassy <br /> Center each Sunday at 10:15 AM for the month of February; and on February 26 at 3:00 <br /> PM they would be celebrating the inaugural celebration of the Living Art Cultural Heritage <br /> Center; <br /> • Provided an update on recent permit revenues; <br /> • Brought forward Public Works & Utilities Director Chal Martin to discuss the success of an <br /> Energy Saving Project at the Waste Water Treatment Plant this past year; and <br /> • Shared marketing videos that promote the City of Bremerton. <br /> PUBLIC RECOGNITION <br /> Mike Walton, Community Affairs Director of the Kitsap YMCA, provided the highlights of events <br /> and activities taking place this month. <br /> Caroline Stein, Washington State Science & Engineering Fair, thanked the City of Bremerton for <br /> hosting the 60th Annual Fair and invited the community to volunteer. <br /> Terry Fessner read a statement to express his concerns with Bremerton. <br /> CONSENT AGENDA <br /> 5A— Claims & Check Register: Check Numbers 371829 through 372145, and EFT-16926 <br /> through EFT-16992 in the amount of $2,991,629.58; Regular Payroll for the pay period <br /> ending January 15, 2017 in the amount of $751,763.50; Regular Payroll (Pay Out)for the <br /> pay period ending January 15, 2017 in the amount of$152.00; and Retiree Payroll for the <br /> pay period ending January 31, 2017 in the amount of $53,082.40 <br /> 5B — Minutes of Meeting —January 18, 2017 <br /> 5C — Minutes of Study Session — January 25, 2017 <br /> 5D — 2017 Excess Liability Coverage and Crime Insurance <br /> 5E — Tourism Promotion Services Agreement with the Bremerton Chamber of Commerce <br /> 5F — Tourism Promotion Services Agreement with the Bremerton Symphony Association <br />
